Gender, Intersectionality, and Just Transition is an exploratory research project whose main objective was to understand what actions, opportunities, and challenges philanthropic networks and organizations operating in the North (Legal Amazon) and Northeast regions of Brazil must undertake to more effectively address the country's just energy transition from a gender and intersectionality perspective.
To achieve this objective, a documentary analysis was carried out at the national and international levels, using climate change, energy transition, gender and intersectionality, and the reduction of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere as selection criteria. In addition, semi-structured interviews were conducted with members and representatives of philanthropic initiatives operating in the North and Northeast regions of Brazil that work on the just energy transition in the country.
The analysis of the information was structured around four categories of approach: status quo, managerial reform, structural reform, and transformative, following the conceptual framework proposed by Morena et al. in their publication Mapping Just Transition(s) to a Low-Carbon World (2018).
