From its Latin American regional office, the Transnational Center for Just Transitions in Energy, Climate, and Sustainability (TRAJECTS), proposes five recommendations that connect ecological, cultural, and economic dimensions to safeguard the Amazon—an essential region for global water and climate regulation (Marengo, et. al. 2009; 2024; SINCHI n.d., TNC n.d.). The region holds one of the greatest concentrations of biocultural diversity on the planet, yet it is highly threatened by multiple pressures at different scales. TRAJECTS calls for coordinated action by countries in the Pan-Amazon region to reduce extractive, over-exploitive, and consumer-driven activities in the territory in order to protect both the cultural heritage of its peoples and global environmental balance.
