Charting Colombia's Path to a Green Hydrogen Economy: Key Insights from New Research

We are proud to feature the latest work from our research fellow, Cesar L. Barraza-Botet, co-authored with John Sánchez-Cardoza, titled "On the Transition towards the Clean Hydrogen Economy in Colombia: an Energy System Model to Inform a National Hydrogen Strategy". While Colombia laid out its initial hydrogen ambitions in its 2021 Hydrogen Roadmap, this new study addresses a critical gap: the lack of a detailed, long-term strategy that identifies specific synergies between supply and demand.

Using a sophisticated Hydrogen Economy Energy System Model (MEC-H2), the research provides a data-driven blueprint for Colombia to achieve a large-scale hydrogen deployment by 2050.
